Ria Macasaet obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Philosophy at Ateneo de Manila University. In 2020, she received her Canadian Juris Doctorate from the University of Windsor where she served as a Program Coordinator for Pro Bono Students Canada. In the same year, Ria also received her American Juris Doctorate from the University of Detroit Mercy, where she served as a judicial intern in the 35th District Court in Michigan and earned the Book Award for successfully advocating for a refugee applicant in Detroit Immigration Court.
Ria joined Swadden & Company as an articled student in 2020 was called to the bar in British Columbia in 2021. Ria practices insurance law, personal injury law, and general civil litigation. She has represented clients before the Provincial Court and the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
Ria volunteers with Legal Aid BC and the Canadian Bar Association. She was recently chosen to become a member of the Young Lawyers Advisory Committee for 2021 to 2022.
Outside of work, Ria enjoys travelling, practising yoga, and walking the seawall.
