Lucy Yuan was born in China and grew up in Sweden and northern Alberta before settling down in beautiful Vancouver, Canada. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree at The University of British Columbia, graduating in 2012 with a major in Chemistry and a minor in Scandinavian culture. After a gap year, Lucy returned to UBC in the Faculty of Law. While attending law school, she represented UBC at national hockey arbitration competitions and captained several of the faculty’s intramural sports teams. She graduated with a J.D. in 2016 and articled at a firm that specializes in administrative and disability law. Lucy was called to the bar in 2017.
Prior to joining Swadden & Company, Lucy practiced personal injury law at a Vancouver boutique litigation firm. She has appeared on behalf of clients before the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal and the federal Social Security Tribunal, as well as before the Supreme Court of British Columbia. She has assisted at or conducted several motor vehicle accident-related trials. Lucy was pleased to join Swadden & Company in 2019 as an associate lawyer, specializing in the areas of insurance defence and personal injury law.
Outside the office Lucy enjoys hiking, watching movies, playing such recreation league sports as Ultimate and soccer, and participating in pub trivia.
