Karen Finnan was born and raised in Abbotsford, BC.  She completed an undergraduate degree in psychology in 1990 and a law degree in 1993, both at The University of British Columbia.  She was called to the Bar in 1994.

After completing her articles at a Lower Mainland firm, Karen worked for several years as a legal researcher, providing legal research services to various lawyers in the Lower Mainland.  This eventually led to Karen’s assisting lawyers with the handling of their files as an independent contractor.  Until 2010 she practised in several areas of the law, including personal injury, employment, family, multi-party construction disputes, and general litigation.

In 2010 Karen changed course and, since then, has taken on her own files, focussing on the defence of personal injury claims.  Her cases have entailed complex chronic pain disorders, brain injuries, and various psychological injuries, and Karen has appeared at all levels of the BC courts.

Karen has been practising in association with Meridian Law Group since early 2018.

Outside the office, Karen enjoys fitness, skiing, and fine wine and aspires to travel the world at such time as the demands of her practice relent.
